Welcome to Class 2!
In Class 2 we currently have children from year 3 and 4.
Every day will start with a whole class reading session, supporting children with fluency and comprehension skills. We also focus on spelling and our times tables, as well as explaining our mathematical thinking.
This term in Class 2, we are learning about Antarctica in Geography and Rocks, Soils and Fossils in Science. In English, we will be basing our writing on the book Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. In Maths, we are learning about place value.

Homework will be sent home weekly - it will consist of a reading comprehension task linked to their current reading book. There will also be weekly spellings linked to the spelling focus in class. This will be followed by a weekly spelling test in school. We ask that you read with your child every night - being a keen and confident reader will have a huge impact on every aspect of their learning, so your support is much appreciated. We use "Vipers" to support reading in Class 2. Vipers stands for Vocabulary, Inference, Prediction, Explanation, Retrieval, Summary. All of our questioning in class reading will be around these areas.
