Welcome to Class 2!
In Class 2 we have learners in Year 3, Year 5 and Year 6. Children are split into Year 3/4 and Year 6 groups for their Maths and English learning.
Each day starts with a focus on revisiting basic skills to support children with fluency and comprehension skills. This includes practising mathematical thinking and grammatical skills. We also focus on embedding knowledge of spelling patterns and consolidating our knowledge of the times tables.
We read both with adults, and independently, every day in Class 2 - and , at the end of each day, we split into groups across the school to listen to an adult reading an age-related story.
In Class 2, Year 6 have a 'Learning Mountain' that helps learners to develop their independent learning skills.
Homework will be sent home weekly - it will consist of a reading comprehension task linked to their current reading book and some maths work linked to their current learning in Maths. There will also be weekly spellings linked to the spelling focus in class. This will be followed by a weekly spelling test in school.
We ask that you read with your child every night - being a keen and confident reader will have a huge impact on every aspect of their learning, so your support is much appreciated.
