Greenhaugh Primary School is situated in the beautiful North Tyne Valley, in a very rural location and because of this we benefit from lots of outdoor space and a lovely natural surroundings for our children to explore and enjoy.

As part of the small rural community of Tarset, we like to involve the school and the children as much as possible in local activities and the friendly local community. We contribute regularly to the "Tarset News", the locally produced newsletter and are honoured to be invited to take part in community events, such as the "Tarset Orchard Opening".

We have regular visits to the historic market town of Hexham, where we take the children swimming and also enjoy productions at the Queens Hall and over the years children have enjoyed a private tour of the ancient Hexham Abbey.  Kielder Water and Forest is situated locally.  This is such a fantastic place for the children to go, either to just explore nature in the forest, see the red squirrels or learn about the industrial side of the forest with talks and a tour given by the Forestry Commision about planting and harvesting the trees.

The Tarset website is a great source of information about the locality and it gives a real feel of what it is like here in the Tarset Valley.  www.tarset.co.uk
